Fruits can b served in different forms, either as a whole in baskets, or sliced, or as an Asian dessert called fruit chaat, or can be served as fruit salad. Fruit salad (also called Mecedonia) is a dish consisting of a mixture of fruit, dished up either in their own juices or syrup. This has all the benefits of fruits in it. A fruit salad can be served in different forms such as an appetizer, a side-salad, or a dessert. A fruits salad is known as a fruit cocktail when it is served as an appetizer or dessert.
Fruits are nutrients dense foods. They provide an extensive amount of vitamins and minerals with pretty few calories. Fruits have natural sugars in them as compared to processed food that’s why fruit salad is nutrients dense while processed food are calorie dense. They are rich in fiber, so helps in digestion, to keep a healthy digestive system one needs to eat fruits. Fruits salad also prevents and fights against heart diseases, high blood pressure, allergies obesity and many more.
Fruit salads can be taken as your breakfast, or it can also be taken as in-between meals. There are many different variations in fruit salad, one can choose according to his taste and mood. Different cultures have a different taste and different recipes for fruit salad.
Fruit salads are very easy to make at home. One can just cut the fruits and add a bit of mayonnaise-based sauce in it, or if it is not available then pinch of salt and pepper can even add taste to the salad. In another variation of salad, cream is added to the fruits slices. Even peanut butter can also be added to change the taste of fruit salad. Sometime macaroni’s are also added in fruits salad to enhance the taste of fruit salad. Hence there are no hard and fast rules for a fruit salad to make, one can enjoy the fruits of his own choice with any of his favorite sauce as appetizers or complete meal.
